Joint European Policy Brief: ‘Resilient Societies and the Contribution of Education’

We’re thrilled to share that our Joint European Policy Brief ‘Resilient Societies and the Contribution of Education’ is now available! ?

This brief brings together findings and recommendations from a joint research seminar across three Horizon Europe projects — CLEAR, SCIREARLY, and LET’S CARE — exploring how education can strengthen resilience across Europe at a time when it is needed most.

Across all three projects, our research converges on a critical insight: resilience goes beyond individual traits or achievements. It must be built into the structures, relationships, and policies that shape young people’s lives — with educational systems and practices playing a crucial role in laying the foundation for democratic and cohesive societies.

Our five joint recommendations for European policymakers:

1️⃣ Centre well-being and safety as pillars of quality education

2️⃣ Empower and support teachers to lead resilient learning

3️⃣ Enable structures for family and community involvement in schools

4️⃣ Tackle systemic inequalities and expand aspirations

5️⃣ Promote room for manoeuvre for local and regional stakeholders

We hope this brief contributes to more evidence-informed, equitable, and inclusive educational policies across Europe.
